Minimalism

“Letters are just pieces of paper,” I said. “Burn them, and what stays in your heart will stay; keep them, and what vanishes will vanish.”
– Haruki Murakami, from Norwegian Wood

I must have read more than a dozen books and hundreds more posts and essays on ‘minimalism’ in recent years.  The quote above is not about minimalism of course but Murakami is my favorite writer and with only 23 words, he provides a perfect and beautiful definition of it.

  1. Thanks. Search ‘murakami quotes’ and after 10 minutes you’ll be hooked, I swear.
I think you’d like the Sam Harris video I posted on mindfulness as well. It’s somewhere around here :)
