Money is not an object
I was recently reminded of Alan Watts’ short diatribe about following one’s passion. I’m about to assist in a new art piece, and for it I was asked what I’d buy if money were no object. It’s an odd question because ‘money actually isn’t an object’. Now, I know what they meant but money, like wealth and worth are relative ideas. Misunderstanding these things as finite kinds of commodities is a reason why most people never attain them. I believe in the quote, “Be grateful for what you have and you’ll end up getting more. But when you focus on what you don’t have, you will never have enough”
